A Gardnerville man was shot and killed Monday morning at a home in the 1300 block of Toler Lane and at least one is in custody, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Officers responded to the home at 11:20 a.m. after a report of shots fired in the area, said Douglas County Sgt. Pat Brooks. The victim was pronounced dead and one person was taken into custody.

Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini told the Record-Courier newspaper that a brother and sister were being interviewed in the investigation.

This is the second fatal shooting in Douglas County in less than a month. Fish Springs resident Melvin Norlund, 81, is accused of killing his caretaker 51-year-old Catherine Mary Costanza of Concord, Calif., on Nov. 21.
