Daniel Benjamin Francisco faces the charge and a bail amount of $20,000. According to the arrest report, an officer was in the male general housing unit supervising inmates and kitchen trusties during breakfast distribution. The inmates were standing at their assigned door waiting for the jail deputy’s direct order to proceed through the food line, with inmates housed on the bottom tier to proceed first.
In an area where milk was dispensed, without any warning, the officer witnessed Francisco punch an inmate three times in the left side of his face. The officer immediately grabbed the inmate, who was still in a fighting stance. The officer separated them and called for staff assistance over the radio. Within seconds a deputy arrived and walked Francisco to visiting booth 10.
The deputy ordered the rest of the inmates to lock down in their assigned rooms. The deputy walked the victim to a multi-purpose room. The victim denied medical attention but a call was made to a doctor as a precaution. The officer spoke with the victim who denied having any problems with Francisco and said he was surprised by his actions.
Photos were taken and a sergeant was informed of the incident and retrieved the saved video footage. Francisco was charged on suspicion of battery of a prisoner.
