A 24-year-old Carson City jail inmate faces a felony battery charge after allegedly fighting Thursday with an inmate he said had “snitched” on him, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers assigned to the jail approached the main floor of the housing unit at around 1:20 p.m. and observed suspect, Joshua Neal Floyd, 24, standing in an aggressive fighting stance with another inmate.
The two were fighting with each other, throwing punches. The officer ordered both men to stop fighting and to get on the floor. Both inmates complied, the arrest report states. The deputy reviewed video of the incident, which showed Floyd walking down the stairs from his cell and then confront the other inmate near a table area.
Both men took aggressive fighting stances from each other and began throwing punches until the fight broke up.
The officer spoke with the inmate who was not charged. He said that Floyd walked down the stairs from his cell, approached him near the area and began fighting him. He told the jail deputy he was only defending himself.
The deputy then spoke with Floyd, who said he believed the inmate “snitched” on him and blames the inmate for being in jail and possibly going back to prison. He stated he saw his opportunity and took advantage of it by going after the inmate and would do it again. Bail: $20,000.

— A 34-year-old Fallon man, Dominick Scott Burtt, was booked Thursday, 10:24 a.m. into Carson City Jail Thursday on felony warrant charges of robbery with a deadly weapon and battery with a deadly weapon. The warrants were issued Feb. 2, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $100,000.
— A 34-year-old Fairfield, Calif. woman, Amanda Marie Bernard, was booked Thursday, noon, into Carson City Jail on a felony warrant charge of grand larceny, issued April 17, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $10,000.
— A 32-year-old Carson City man, Christopher Barrett, was arrested Thursday, 9:25 a.m. in the 4000 block of Lepire Drive on a felony parole and probation warrant and is being held without bail pending a hearing. A 36-year-old woman was also arrested on three misdemeanor warrant charges, issued out of Carson City Justice Court and Sparks Municipal Court. Bail: $2,800.
— A 46-year-old woman was booked Thursday, noon into Carson City jail on a misdemeanor charge, contempt of court, issued March 13, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $5,000.
— A 27-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 8:19 p.m., in the 1600 block of Brown Street on several misdemeanor charges after speeding through a neighborhood and eluding officers. A 24-year-old passenger was arrested on misdemeanor warrant and drug charges, A Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers assigned to the Tri-County Gang Unit observed a white Chevy Malibu drive east on Brown Street and then through a stop sign without stopping. The officer activated his lights and siren, attempting to stop the vehicle. However, the vehicle sped away, traveling 45 mph in a posted 25 mph on wet pavement. The vehicle made a hard left turn on to Reeves and then onto Brown Street from Reeves. The vehicle sped east on Brown and made a sharp turn into a driveway in the 1600 block of Brown Street.
Deputies ordered the driver to turn the vehicle off and to exit with her hands up. The passenger was also ordered out of the vehicle. A dispatch check was done on both suspects. Dispatch advised the woman didn’t have a valid driver’s license and her registration was suspended, while the man had a confirmed, outstanding warrant for failure to appear out of Carson City Justice Court. A K9 did an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive. A small amount of marijuana was found near the passenger’s seat, the arrest report states.
The officer read the woman her rights. She advised she understood and wished to speak. She said the reason she did not stop was because she did not want her vehicle to be towed. The officer told the woman she endangered several people with her actions and was advised she was going to jail.
The woman faces the following misdemeanor charges: eluding, reckless driving and wanton disregard, speeds too fast for conditions, driving on a suspended registration, driving without a license and no insurance. Bail: $2,527. The 24-year-old man faces the misdemeanor warrant charge and possession of marijuana. Bail: $1,714.
— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 4:50 p.m. in the area of Woodside Drive on suspicion of petit larceny. The man allegedly pushed a shopping cart out the door of a supermarket with $143.64 in merchandise without paying for it. Bail: $352.
— A 21-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Thursday, 4 p.m. on a misdemeanor charge, contempt of court, issued April 1, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,035.
— A 38-year-old Carson City man, Matthew Dobbs, was arrested Thursday, 6:23 p.m. in the area of Highway 50 and Centennial on felony suspicion of meth possession, two misdemeanor warrants, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the arrest report, a deputy checked the plates on a vehicle traveling west on Highway 50 front Flint. The plates came back with warrants for the arrest of the owner.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and spoke with Dobbs who told him he knew about the two warrants confirmed from dispatch. He was arrested. An inventory of the vehicle was done, where officers found a glass pipe commonly used for smoking meth and a small baggie with about 2 grams of meth inside. Bail: $4,852.
— A 70-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 7:13 p.m. in the 100 block of Conestoga on suspicion of defrauding a taxi. According to the arrest report, officers met with a Capital Cab driver who stated the woman was unable to pay for her $37.75 taxi fee. The officer spoke with the woman who was alert and oriented but didn’t appear capable of taking care of herself.
She stated she lived at the apartment but management was unwilling to let the woman into the residence. Officers were unable to locate friends or relatives to take care of the woman. Due to the weather and cold conditions the officer took the woman into custody. Bail: $302.
— A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 6:11 p.m. in the 2700 block of South Carson Street on two misdemeanor restraining order violations and violation of bail conditions through Douglas County Alternative Sentencing.
The man allegedly entered a restaurant and approached his wife and two children and would not leave. A server called 911 and then intervened, shielding one of the children when the man appeared to want to speak with them. The man left the restaurant and then returned 10 minutes later and sat in his vehicle in the parking lot and then drove off.
The man was located at a motel and arrested. Bail: $2,274. He is on a “no bail” hold because of being in violation of bail conditions.
