Gardnerville resident identified as the woman who died in the Carson City Jail

A Gardnerville woman has been identified by authorities as being the woman who died in the Carson City Jail on Sunday.
Kimberly Wood, 23, died Sunday morning for unknown reasons. An autopsy was performed today, Tuesday, with results not expected for several weeks, Carson City Sheriff's Office Undersheriff Steve Albertsen said.
Wood was found dead on Sunday morning in the Carson City jail after she had been arrested on Saturday night, on a warrant from Lyon County. 
Authorities had made contact with Wood and a man she was with during a domestic dispute that happened while driving.

The man was taken into custody on a charge of domestic battery second offense.
Paramedics were called to the domestic scene and Wood had declined treatment. During booking Wood informed staff of minor medical issues, Sheriff Ken Furlong said Sunday.
The woman was checked throughout the night by jail staff and was awake and alert for breakfast, he said. A short time later, when food was brought to her, she was found unresponsive.
The cause of death is under investigation.
