UPDATE: Lyon County sheriff's spokesman Michael Carlson said a U.S. Postal Service delivery worker who was killed on the job in northern Nevada was delivering mail to her own home, and her husband first reported her shooting death as an accident, according to KTVN. The husband of Johnie Nicole Shadden was questioned but not arrested after Shadden was pronounced dead outside the house about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday near Yerington.

Lyon County Sheriff's Office authorities, the US Postal Service and the FBI are investigating the Tuesday shooting death of a 26-year-old Mason Valley mail carrier.
According to a news release from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 11:30 a.m. deputies and rescue units responded to a report of a gunshot injury on Stanley Lane in Mason Valley. When responders arrived they found a 26-year-old female victim, identified as Johnie Shadden, who had died from a gunshot wound.
At the time of the incident Shadden, an on-duty postal worker, had stopped at her residence as part of her normal mail route, according to the news release.
The death investigation is being jointly conducted by Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the US Postal Service and the FBI.
Lyon County Sheriff Al McNeil said he wants to assure citizens this is an isolated incident and there is not a threat to the community, according to the news release.
