UPDATE: Carson City and Lyon County authorities arrested four people Friday on felony and misdemeanor charges related to stolen weapons, a vehicle and narcotics.

The Lyon County Gang Unit and Carson City SET Team had information in regards to a parole violator in the Lyon County area, who was in possession of stolen weapons. Both teams worked together to locate and apprehend the suspect, said Lt. Shawn Clanton.

The incident began at around 5 p.m. when patrol officers responded to the hills above Clearview regarding suspicious activity. Patrol deputies came across an ex-felon who had a weapon on him. They arrested the man and then contacted the SET team and the Gang Unit for further investigation, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

When officers arrived several people fled the area but they were able to arrest the one man with several weapons.

Through the combined efforts of both teams, four people were arrested for felony and misdemeanor charges and parole violations. During the investigation approximately 60 stolen weapons, a stolen Chevy pickup with a camper shell and illegal narcotics were recovered, authorities from both agencies said.

"This was a tremendous operation that started from something suspicious up on the hill," said Furlong. "If it wasn't for the first responding patrol officers, Sgt. Humphrey and his crew we wouldn't have got to the house (in Lyon County) where a motherlode of guns were found."

In the process, a truck that was stolen from the Capital Ford lot last week was recovered, said Furlong. The truck is stuck up on the hillside and is being brought down today by city maintenance and members of the Search and Rescue Team.

Both Carson City Sheriff's Office SET and Lyon County Gang Unit are still following up on leads to other crimes and suspects as a result of the arrests. Because of the investigation and leads into the case, the names of the suspects are being withheld at this time.

The weapons are believed to have been stolen from a Carson City gun owner who wasn't aware of the theft, said Furlong.

"There were a lot units between Lyon County and Carson City put together to see this all the way through," said Furlong.
