The mood has been somber in Carson City this week. The news of Sheriff Deputy Carl Howell’s shooting death has rallied the community, beginning with a large candlelight vigil held last Saturday at the Capitol. Today the officer will be laid to rest after a funeral service at the Reno Convention Center. A procession will leave the Carson City Courthouse at 9 a.m. and travel north along Carson Street.
