Acts of vandalism again plagued Carson City streets overnight with at least three businesses and several vehicles hit with logs, stones, rocks and potatoes.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the incident happened sometime over night with reports of vandalism continuing to come in this morning. The vandals appear to be targeting business and vehicles randomly, said Furlong.
Thus far the worst of the vandalism was discovered at National's Cafe sushi restaurant at 1701 North Carson Street. Two fireplace logs were thrown threw a door and two windows, smashing them and potatoes were thrown at a side window smashing it.
Owner Juan Rea said his daughter Alejandra Cano was contacted by O'Reilly Auto Parts regarding the vandalism. O'Reilly was also targeted as well as a car parked outside the shop and Carson Service Center.
Rea said it didn't appear as though entry was made. He said the vandalism forced him to close his doors today. A glass company was called to do the repairs to the restaurant, the auto store and auto shop. A representative from the glass company was at the scene taking measurements this morning.
Cano said a person from O'Reilly told her there's video taken from inside the store but not outside the store.
Investigators with the Carson City Sheriff's Office are looking into possible leads into this case. If the public has any information or if anyone saw anything suspicious, contact the Carson City Sheriff's Office Dispatch at (775) 887-2011.
