Carson City sheriff's deputies arrest couple on domestic battery, obstructing charges

A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 2000 block of West College Parkway on suspicion of domestic battery, resisting a police officer and marijuana possession, according to a Carson City sheriff's deputy.

Officers were dispatched to a motel in the 2700 block of South Carson Street at 7:43 p.m. on a report of domestic battery. Officers were told a woman was bleeding profusely from her face and that a man told her to get into a car. The woman complied and the vehicle left the scene.

As officers were attempting to locate the vehicle, there was another call from dispatch that reported a woman covered in blood who attempted to flee from a green sedan at the intersection of Bath and Nevada streets. Officers were told two men pulled the woman back into the vehicle and left the scene northbound.

Dispatch advised the vehicle came back to a West College Parkway address. Officers went to the apartment complex but were unable to locate the vehicle. Officers then went back to the apartments about 15 minutes later to check again. A deputy observed a woman put her finger to her lips in a quieting gesture while looking at the officer, pointing him to the vehicle, the arrest report states.

The officer ordered the suspect to get out of the vehicle. The female victim in the vehicle, also exited. She was bleeding from her face and had a large amount of blood on her face and shirt, the arrest report states.

The 20-year-old suspect appeared to want to run and the officer told him to place his hands behind his back. When the man didn't the officer grabbed his right arm in which the man replied "don't grab up on me" and began to pull away. The officer detained the man, who had blood on his clothes but was without wounds, the arrest report states.

The officer met with the victim's mother who said the couple had been dating and that they fight and get physical with each other on a regular basis. The mother stated she heard her daughter say "why did you do this to my face?"

The man was arrested at 8:22 p.m. and booked on three misdemeanor charges: Domestic battery, resisting a police officer and possession of marijuana. Bail: $4,226.

The victim, 21, was subsequently arrested after arguing with officers about getting her car keys from the suspect. At one point the woman, who was intoxicated, opened the back of the patrol car and the suspect attempted to flee once the door was open. She was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing a police officer. Bail: $612.

In other arrests:
— A 44-year-old Carson City woman was booked Monday into Carson City Jail on a gross misdemeanor warrant, neglect of an elderly person. The warrant was issued Jan. 2, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $2,500.

— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 4:42 p.m. at Desatoya and Glacier streets for disorderly conduct and violation of a suspended sentence. Officers were called to the area for a report of an intoxicated man stumbling down the street and being aggressive toward other pedestrians.

When officers approached the man, who was grossly intoxicated, he saw him throw up his arms challenging a group of children walking down the street, the arrest report states. The man agreed to provide a preliminary breath test that resulted in a .233.
The man, who was on Alternative Sentencing with an "obey all laws" clause, was arrested and taken to jail. Bail: $1,242.

— A 36-year-old Carson City woman was arrested May 20, 1:06 p.m. in the 2300 block of Merrit Drive on a contempt of court warrant issued March 22, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $175.

— A 61-year-old Carson City man was arrested May 20, 11:49 a.m. in the 400 block of Hot Springs Road on two failure to appear warrants, issued March 27, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $390.

— A Las Vegas man, age unknown, was booked into Carson City Jail on May 18, on a contempt of court warrant, failure to appear, issued Oct. 6, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
