On January 6, 2021 the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office ended a three-week investigation into the death of Jason Kaspian. Kaspian was found dead in his Vista Grande Drive apartment on Dec. 19, 2020 of a suspected overdose.

During the course of the investigation into Kaspian’s death, it was discovered that Brittany Miller sold an opiate based substance to Kaspian. The evidence in this case indicates that Kaspian died of an overdosed from the controlled substance that Miller made available to him.

Miller, a 25-year-old Dayton, Nev., resident, was arrested on Jan. 6, 2021 during the execution of a search warrant at her Dayton residence.

According to Nevada State law, Nevada Law states if someone illegally sells or makes available a controlled substance to another person whose death is the proximate result of that controlled substance, that person who provided the controlled substance to the victim may be found guilty of murder.

Miller was booked into the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Minden Jail and was arrested for suspicion of Open Murder and Sales of a Controlled Substance. Miller is currently being held without bail pending her initial court appearance.

Sheriff Coverley wants the public to know trafficking and abuse of opioids is a serious and deadly problem nationwide and Douglas County is no exception. Anyone selling opioids or any other controlled substance in Douglas County will be aggressively pursued by the Sheriff’s Office.
