Carson City sheriff's log: Felony and misdemeanor arrests made Friday and early Saturday

Carson City sheriff's deputies made a handful of arrests Friday in the 600 block of South Roop Street on a follow up narcotics complaint.

According to the arrest report, officers knocked on the door of the residence where there had been a complaint of drug use. Deputies looked through an opening in the window and discovered Mark Macarthur allegedly smoking methamphetamine from a glass pipe. A woman opened the door and the officer made contact with Macarthur and arrested him. In the chair where he was sitting was a small case with methamphetamine and a pipe. Macarthur was charged with felony possession of meth and paraphernalia. Bail: $3,637.

The woman had a small brown eyeglass case, inside was a spoon with white crystalline residue, cotton swabs, used hypodermic needles and small clear empty baggies. She was arrested on misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. Bail: $1,137.

Officers had permission to search the residence and moved into the back bedroom of the residence where 50-year-old Mickey Woomer was in a bedroom. On a nightstand next to Woomer were several spoons with methamphetamine residue, several used needles, small baggies with meth residue and two tramadol pills in a bottle. Woomer was arrested on possession of paraphernalia and felony possession of prescription drugs without a prescription. Bail: $3,637.

Hours after the first arrests, Michael Douglas arrived at the residence. Douglas had a felony warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody on the district court warrant. Here's being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

In other arrests Friday: A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday at 12:38 a.m. on the corner of Fall Street and Williams Street on a felony charge of fugitive from justice. A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the area in reference to an intoxicated subject.

An anonymous reporting party said the man was standing on the roadway trying to flag down vehicles. Officers arrived and made contact with the subject who identified himself as Jeffrey Cassels. After being checked through dispatch, he came back with a felony warrant through the Indiana Department of Corrections. No bail hold pending a hearing.

— A 20-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday at 12:29 a.m. at the Koontz water tower on misdemeanor charges of DUI first offense, contempt of court, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the same incident on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies were dispatched to the area in regards to subjects smoking marijuana by a vehicle. When they arrived, the vehicle was leaving the area at high speed. The vehicle was stopped and officers made contact with the passenger and driver. According to the arrest report, the vehicle smelled like marijuana and the driver had red eyes, dilated pupils and a green tongue. A computer records check returned on the woman who had alternative sentencing with a no drugs clause. The passenger also had red eyes and dilated pupils.

The driver agreed to have a K9 search the vehicle. Two bags of marijuana and a pipe were found in the glove compartment. Another fabric bag was located on top of the center console with a container with marijuana residue inside. The driver submitted standardized field sobriety tests and admitted to smoking “2 hits” of marijuana before driving. Bail for the driver: $3,126. Bail for the passenger: $1,264.

— A 59-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday at 6:00 p.m. on the corner of Fairview Drive and California Street on a misdemeanor charge DUI first offense. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a white sedan with damage to the front end.
The officers identified the driver from a previous DUI arrest in May 2015. The woman agreed to participate in the standardized field sobriety tests and according to the report showed several signs of impairment. The woman gave a breath sample of .0% Officers believed she was driving under the influence of a controlled substance. The woman admitted to having some Alprazolam and Carisoprodol in her purse. Bail: $1,137.

— A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday at 2:44 p.m. in the 200 block of Lee Street on a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court failure to appear. An officer was advised by dispatch that the man had a warrant for his arrest from the Sparks Municipal Court. The officer located him at his residence and placed him under arrest. Bail: $718.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday at 7:21 a.m. in the 700 block of Elm Street on a misdemeanor charge of failure to appear contempt of court. Dispatch informed an officer that the man was in the area and had a warrant for his arrest from the Carson City Justice Court. The officer placed him under arrest. Bail: $15,000.

—A 29-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday at 2:27 a.m. in the 2000 block of Mayflower Way on two misdemeanor charges of violation of suspended sentence and contempt of court. An officer responded to a domestic battery call in the area. The officer met with the woman and a computer check of her confirmed two warrants out of the Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,369.
