Carson City crosswalk accident sends to two hospital with minor injuries

UPDATE 6:17PM: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong reports tonight that two suffered minor injuries after being hit by a vehicle. They were taken to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center in Carson City. CareFlight had been called but canceled after it was determined the injuries were not life-threatening and were considered minor.

UPDATE 6:03PM: Stewart Street in Carson City is now open in both directions after a pedestrian accident involving a vehicle in the cross walk across from the fire station in the 700 block of Stewart. Early reports were that two suffered injuries in the accident and that CareFlight was called and then canceled.

The Carson City Fire Department is responding to an injury accident tonight in which two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle near the fire station on Stewart Street.

A CareFlight air ambulance was called and then abruptly canceled when the first responders arrived at the scene of the accident. Reportedly two pedestrians were hit by at least one vehicle.

The accident was reported at 5:24 p.m.
Traffic at Stewart and 5th Street has been temporarily closed. Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies are on the scene.
No word yet as to the condition of the pedestrians or what caused the accident.

Firefighters said that at least one of the accident victims may have had a dog with them and that the dog appeared to be injured.
