The Lyon County Sheriff's Office has identified Steven Murphree, 45, of Dayton as the pilot killed Tuesday near the Dayton Valley Airpark.
Murphree's homebuilt single BD-4 plane wreckage was found on BLM land. He was the sole occupant. FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said a pilot discovered the wreckage Tuesday afternoon.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash. If anyone has information, call the Lyon County Sheriff Office at (775) 463-6600.
